Setting Fruits & Roots Team Goals

Establishing the Process Goals (the Roots) Needed to Achieve Your Outcome Goals (the Fruits)

Workout Focus

Goal achievement can be defined as a what by how process. Developing consensus around the what (performance goals) and the by how (process goals) is an essential part of the culture development process. The sooner a team develops a clear, shared understanding of its outcome goals, the sooner it can begin to develop shared expectations for and commitment to what will be required to achieve the goals. What are we trying to achieve? What will it take from each of us and all of us to pull it off?

This workout engages teams in a visioning exercise that generates team outcome goals (the Fruits) and team process goals (the Roots). Once an initial set of goals is established, the team will refine and strengthen their planning into Commit, Challenge, and Crush-It goals. The lasting contribution of this workout is a strong set of performance and process goals that will drive motivation, accountability, unity, and growth.
